Job Description
- To lead and manage the FS phase to provide high-quality learning within a secure, happy, and caring environment.
- To work closely with the senior leadership team (SLT) to ensure consistency in teaching, learning, and assessment practices across the school.
- To drive school-wide initiatives that support outstanding academic progress, student wellbeing, and staff professional development.
- Lead and manage the phase team, ensuring high expectations for teaching and learning in line with the GEMS Playbook.
- Act as a role model in delivering outstanding classroom practice.
- Provide strategic direction for curriculum planning, ensuring a broad and balanced education.
- Contribute to the school’s self-evaluation and development planning.
- Monitor and evaluate teaching standards, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.
- Support and develop staff through coaching, mentoring, and professional development initiatives.
- Conduct and lead weekly minuted phase meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
- Ensure effective teaching practices that cater to the diverse needs of all students.
- Implement and oversee assessment practices, ensuring pupil progress is tracked and reported effectively through Go4schools.
- Promote a positive learning environment that fosters curiosity, independence, and engagement.
- Support the Assistant Principals in curriculum development and enrichment activities when required.
- Maintain high standards of student behaviour, wellbeing, and engagement.
- Ensure safeguarding policies and practices are followed within the phase.
- Monitor behaviour and attendance logs and follow the school staged approach for these.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, keeping them informed about their child’s progress and wellbeing.
- Promote inclusion and ensure all students, including those with additional needs, receive appropriate support.
- Organise and lead phase-wide initiatives, enrichment programs, and school events.
- Work collaboratively with other phase leaders and SLT to ensure whole-school consistency.
- Contribute to the professional development of staff through CPD sessions and training.
- Represent the school at external meetings, networking events, and partnerships.

- Generate high expectations, enthusiasm and commitment from staff
- Maintain a sense of humour and proportion whilst working under pressure
