SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:
The Translator/Editor will be responsible for translating a wide range of documents, including literary, legal, research, technical, scientific, educational, and commercial materials between English and Arabic. Additionally, you will review and edit technical content in various forms such as instructional materials, user documentation, newsletters, electronic databases, publications, and media guides. Managing the translation and proofreading process, you will collaborate with subject matter experts and colleagues to ensure accurate translation of specialized concepts. To enhance efficiency and consistency, you will also utilize specialized translation software in this multifaceted role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide English/Arabic language translation of university documents.
• Compile data and write or revise text for informative, instructional, promotional articles, user documentation, newsletters, electronic database publications, media guides, or similar materials of a technical nature.
• Serve as translator/ proofreader at various venues, both on- and off-site, and in various situations, take minutes of meetings as required during the performance of services.
• Translate/ proofread written educational materials and ensure that all documents are professionally translated into the source language.
• Manage the translation/ proofreading process of each requested document.
• Interpret communications between the faculty or staff members and the non-English speaking population.
• Perform administrative, clerical, and/or record-keeping duties associated with services being provided by the operating units, as appropriate.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Translation, linguistics, foreign languages, or related field.
• Minimum three years of experience in the translation field.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
• Arabic and English languages written translation skills.
• Native-like proficiency in Arabic and English languages.
• Must demonstrate the ability to accurately translate written materials from source to target languages.
