Maintain an active awareness of current threat levels and to remain vigilant in the reporting of any suspicious activities observed.
Provide friendly, helpful customer service whenever possible and at all times maintain collaborative working relationship (s) with Defence personnel (Military and Australian Public Service), other Defence contractors and external agencies (e.g., Local Police).
Entry Point Security Guard – Operational Duties:
Visual identification, verification, and P-tracking compliance, preventing entry and exit of all unauthorised personnel and vehicles.
Ensure visitors comply with site induction requirements
Issue, receipt and record temporary and visitor passes
Monitor surveillance systems (where available and applicable)
Act as a deterrent to prevent the unauthorised removal of Defence assets or classified information.
Security Patrol Guards – Operational Duties:
Conduct periodic non-armed facility patrols of designated site(s), internal perimeters and building exteriors/interiors – preventing and detecting sign of intrusion or fault
Respond or divert immediately to attend to any activated alarm on base
Respond, answer alarms and investigate disturbances on base
Patrolling internal grounds using a vehicle and visually identifying authorised personnel and vehicles that are on base, including the prevention of unauthorised removal of Defence assets and/or classified information
Conduct walk-arounds of designated site (s), perimeters and building exteriors. Any suspicious activity or areas of security breaches to be notified as required.
Specific Requirements
Individuals deployed into Security Guard roles on this contract will be a minimum Baseline AGSVA security level cleared as requested by our client – only Australian Citizens are eligible for security clearance
Fluent English communication skills (reading, writing and spoken) and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work productively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Ability to communicate effectively, meet the public, respond to questions, and furnish information
Ability to follow instructions explicitly and to exercise judgment and act quickly in an emergency situation Personnel have the appropriate accredited competencies, skills, proficiencies, licenses and qualification. This requires a minimum Certificate II in Security Operations, which must be compromised of the seven core units, the two electives CPPSEC2007A and CPPSEC2008A and at least two of the following (dependant on roles undertaken by guard):
